board Positions available

The PTO Board handles the day-to-day business of the Andrew Jackson School Parent Teacher Organization. We meet once a month (normally the first Tuesday but sometimes this needs to change). In addition to meetings, a couple of events (such as our largest fundraiser, Eagle Run, are considered "all hands on deck" and all Board Members are expected to help with the event in some capacity. Otherwise, the Board assists with the PTO events as people are able. Particular positions have additional duties of course. Please read the position descriptions below and let us know if you would be interested in joining us! 

Spirit Night Co-Chair

This person will partner with our current Spirit Night Co-Chair and be in charge of choosing and organizing the monthly Spirit Nights. This includes things like Chick-Fil-A Night and Papa Johns Night. We have all the nights set up through December so if you choose this position, you will need to set up the spring nights. You have latitude to explore different places or you can work with ones we have used in the past. Most of the larger chains have this process streamlined and some you can even do online. Other than setting up the nights, the Spirit Night Co-Chair will also need to create and copy the marketing materials and flyers that go home related to the Nights. This is normally done at the school and training can be provided. This person also sets out any banners or signage on school grounds the day of the event.  

Assistant Treasurer

The person will assist the AJS treasurer whose tasks include: collecting receipts, issuing and tracking reimbursements, reconciling the PTO bank account monthly, purchasing requested teacher supplies online (on behalf of the PTO), filing PTO tax returns (990EZ - they are not complicated), tracking budget expenditures and overages. MNPS requires that anyone in this position complete a short powerpoint training as you will have access to financial information. We use Money Minder software so you may need to become familiar with this. It is not very complicated.

 

Social Media Chair (Online Marketing)

This person will be in charge of creating and posting marketing materials and other reminders on Facebook and on the PTO website. This person is also the co-admin for the PTO's Google Enterprise account which may require maintenance of the users and accounts on Google Workspace. Familiarity with Facebook, Google and Wix interfaces would be helpful but can be taught to the willing. We have Canva available as well for the creation of marketing materials.
