The PTO Board handles the day-to-day business of the Andrew Jackson School Parent Teacher Organization. We meet once a month (normally the third Tuesday but sometimes this needs to change). In addition to meetings, a couple of events (such as our largest fundraiser, Eagle Run, are considered "all hands on deck" and all Board Members are expected to help with the event in some capacity. Otherwise, the Board assists with the PTO events as people are able. Particular positions have additional duties of course. Please read the position descriptions below and let us know if you would be interested in joining us!
Eagle Run Co-Chair
The Eagle Run Co-Chair works alongside the Eagle Run Chair to help plan, organize, and execute the PTO's largest annual fundraiser. This role assists with coordinating volunteers, communicating with sponsors, organizing event logistics, supporting incentive programs, and helping ensure the event runs smoothly from planning through completion. The Co-Chair also serves as a partner in decision-making and is prepared to step in for the Chair when needed, helping make the Eagle Run a fun, safe, and successful experience for students, families, staff, and the community.
Assistant Treasurer
The person will assist the AJS treasurer whose tasks include: collecting receipts, issuing and tracking reimbursements, reconciling the PTO bank account monthly, purchasing requested teacher supplies online (on behalf of the PTO), filing PTO tax returns (990EZ - they are not complicated), tracking budget expenditures and overages. MNPS requires that anyone in this position complete a short powerpoint training as you will have access to financial information. We use Money Minder software so you may need to become familiar with this. It is not very complicated.
Spirit Night Co-Chair
The Spirit Night Co-Chair works alongside the Spirit Night Chair to plan, coordinate, and promote fundraising events with local restaurants and businesses. This position assists with scheduling events, communicating with participating businesses, and sharing event details with the school community. The Co-Chair may also help promote Spirit Nights, attend events when possible, and follow up with businesses regarding fundraiser proceeds.
Co-Chair of Membership
The Co-Chair of Membership assists the Chair of Membership in maintaining accurate membership records, recruiting members, coordinating volunteer and donation opportunities, and communicating membership information to the school community, including putting together the PTO's monthly newsletter. The Co-Chair supports membership initiatives and performs the duties of the Chair of Membership in the Chair's absence.
